Dalekovod Chessplayers

Long ago in 1968 in the realm of employee sporting activities, a chess section was established within Dalekovod comprising ten chess players. They represented Dalekovod in worker sporting games, the Zagreb Chess League and the Chess Cup within ex-Yugoslavia.

In that period, a series of outstanding results were achieved, amongst the top ten, thirty or so second and third placings at all levels of chess competitions.

In 1998 (18th Ocotober) at the founders meeting, the Dalekovod Chess Society was founded comprising 17 members (9 registered members and 8 supporting members). The society was registery exclusively for entering the competition IV Chess League Center (1999).

In 2000, we won first place and entered the III Chess League Center.

In 2001, the competition team was formalized and in 2002 we won first place and entered the II Chess League Center.

In 2003, we strengthened the team with inter master (Bukal Vladimir, Bukal Vladimir junior, Brumen Dinko), and we finished the year in fourth place.

In 2004, we were winners in the II Chess League Center and entered the final round.

The year 2005 will be remembered as the year where we competition in the premier league.

Unfortunately, thanks to the competition system (allowing two players belonging to chessmaster clubs able to be bought) we again entered the II Chess League Center.

This was the reason why our inter masters left us so we once again returned to the III Chess League Center.

This year we have entered competition with two teams. The first team is to compete in the III Chess League Center, while the other team in the V Chess League Center.

Today, the Dalekovod Chess Society has 23 members (16 registered players and 7 supporting members).
